Munneswaram is a celebrated Hindu temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva that predates the arrival of Prince Vijaya in the 6th century BC. According to the Ramayana epic, King Rama prayed here after his victory over Ravana. The temple features ancient Dravidian stone pillared halls, brass vahanams, and an adjacent Kali kovil attracting diverse pilgrims.
