Destination Overview

Essential background & heritage of Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex & Tower

Dizzying spiral tower piercing mountain clouds with 360-degree aerial views of the Central Highlands.

Perched 3,567 feet above sea level on an isolated peak in Gampola, Ambuluwawa is Sri Lanka’s first multi-religious biodiversity sanctuary. Its centerpiece is a surreal, white conical spire resembling an elongated Buddhist pagoda that spirals into the mist. Climbing the narrowing outdoor stairwell tests your nerve but rewards you with breathtaking panoramas of Hanthana, Piduruthalagala, and the Bible Rock.
